Welcome to my World of Wonderment

Our planet is a neat place, full of weird and unusual people doing weird and unusual things. One oddball thing I like to do is geocache. What other activity is there that makes people travel hundreds of miles to climb a mountain, wade a river, and fight a Bigfoot, just to be the first person to sign a piece of paper rolled up in a 35mm film canister stuffed in the knot hole of a tree? I can't think of any other sport that has such a great mix of technology and the wonderful outdoors. A lot of geocaches are placed in a beautiful setting, or hidden in a challenging or unique way, or in a historical setting. Geocaching allows the finder to share in some of the hiders favorite places, and along the way you get to meet some interesting characters, and occasionally learn something new. While this blog is primarily a geocaching blog, I also use this place to post the occasional funny video or weird news story, or as a platform to rant or rave about something I really have to share. But for the most part this website is about you, the weirdo walking around in circles, talking into your GPS unit like it's a phone, pretending your taking pictures of a phone booth to find find the tiniest micro-cache, or circling your car around and around a light pole in a parking lot trying to retrieve a cache without even getting out of your car.

Truck/Travel Trailer Crashes Texas State Bank- July 2, 2008

At approximately 3 PM, Tuesday, July 2, a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, pulling a new travel trailer, hit the corner of the Texas State Bank Drive-In on Tenaha Street, causing the complete awning to come to the ground. Luckily, the driver of the Dodge, Mickey Miller, of Garrison and his 10 year old son were able to exit their vehicle uninjured.

Stupid Criminal

Here is something on the lighter side.

One of the world's dumbest criminals, presented by the dumbest "actors"? of all time.

Should Bush be tried for war crime?

Here is a great article from the Guardian. The Guardian should be required reading for everyone. I'm going to come up with a required reading list. If anyone wants to submit some things that I'll forget, overlook, or don't know about, email me, or comment below.

Should Bush be tried for war crimes?

The chorus demanding George Bush be prosecuted for torture and other constitutional abuses is getting louder

I had a good laugh when my friend Seth Gitell reported in the New York Sun on a campaign by the dean of the obscure Massachusetts School of Law to put George Bush and other top White House officials on trial for war crimes.

Lawrence Velvel, Gitell notes, wrote last month that his model was the Nuremberg trials held after second world war. Velvel went so far as to say that "we must insist on appropriate punishments, including, if guilt is found, the hangings visited upon top Germans and Japanese." Oh, my.

Though I found Velvel's apparently earnest quest as ridiculous as Gitell did, the idea of holding our leaders accountable for the crimes and constitutional violations of the past seven and a half years isn't ridiculous in the least.

We are less than a decade removed from impeaching a president and nearly relieving him of office because of a lie in a civil deposition about blowjobs. Yet when congressman Dennis Kucinich recently attempted to impeach Bush over torture, extraordinary rendition and other grotesque constitutional abuses, Kucinich's embarrassed fellow Democrats couldn't kill the measure quickly enough.

Why? Top Democrats are so complicit in what has happened since 9/11 that my guess is they dare not travel down that road. From voting in favor of the war in Iraq to holding the telecommunications companies guiltless for their role in spying on Americans (Barack Obama infuriated much of his progressive base by voting for immunity), the Democrats have often acted more as enablers than as a true opposition party. From their point of view, no doubt it's best to move on.......

Bush Should be Hung From the Neck Until Dead

I haven't had a chance to read this yet, but judging from the video it looks as if Vincent Bugliosi gives a compelling argument to put Bush on trial for war crime. I have argued before that Bush should be hung in the same gallows as Saddam Hussein.

I thought I had seen every Warner Bros. Cartoon ever made, twice. Until now. Xenu bless the interwebs.

3d Audio Barbershop

I found this site a few years ago, and have been fascinated by it ever since. I have shared this with quite a few friends, so you may have already heard this. It was recorded with 2 microphones inserted into a ballistics gel (that stuff they use on Myth Busters) head. The 2 microphones give it a 3d spatial feel. Put on some headphones (it doesn't give you the 3d effect without headphones) and have a listen.

Fox News Exempt For Warantless Wiretap of Jesse Jackson

I want to take one for the team here, and help out Barack O'bama's presidential campaign. In a strange turn of events, Jesse Jackson privately says to a colleague that, "I want to cut his nuts off." Unbeknownst to Jackson, Fox was still rolling tape, probably at the behest of Bill O'Reilly. The strangest thing of all is I saw it coming. I blogged about Jackson being a better presidential candidate than Borat, and then I posted a picture with former presidential candidate Eldridge Cleaver wearing some weird pants with his package hanging out. Maybe Jackson wasn't talking about Barack O'bama, I bet Jackson reads my blog, and he was telling his friend about the funny picture of Cleaver. And then he said "I want to cut his nuts off," referring to either: A): me, or B): Eldridge Cleaver. So the press should all get off Jackson's back and blame me.

Man Retires Instead of Honoring Helms

Check out this guys convictions.

RALEIGH - L.F. Eason III gave up the only job he'd ever had rather than lower a flag to honor former U.S. Sen. Jesse Helms.

Eason, a 29-year veteran of the state Department of Agriculture, instructed his staff at a small Raleigh lab not to fly the U.S. or North Carolina flags at half-staff Monday, as called for in a directive to all state agencies by Gov. Mike Easley.

When a superior ordered the lab to follow the directive, Eason decided to retire rather than pay tribute to Helms. After several hours' delay, one of Eason's employees hung the flags at half-staff. ... Read the whole story at newsobserver.com

I have always wanted to travel the world, and see just about every country. Stories like this keep India near the bottom of my list of places to visit

It pays to go in a public toilet
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - It pays to use a toilet in southern India, as residents are earning close to a dollar a month by using public urinals, a scheme launched by authorities to promote hygiene and research in rural areas.

Dozens of people are queuing up to use toilets in Musiri, a remote town in Tamil Nadu state, where authorities have succeeded in keeping street corners clean with the new scheme, The Times of India newspaper said on Sunday.

"In fact, many of us started using toilets for urination only after the ecosan (ecological sanitation) toilets were constructed in the area," said S. Rajasekaran, a truck cleaner.

The urine was also being collected and tested for its efficacy as a crop fertilizer, an official of the state's agricultural university added.

People relieving themselves in the open is a common sight in India's rural towns and villages, as basic sanitation still eludes millions.

A Typical Day at My Office

A Co-worker brought in a few cameras the other day to work. Here are the results:

Kidnapped Catholic Cracker Concerns Church

This sounds like something from the Onion but it's not. The Catholic Church is upset that a parishioner stole a cracker, and they are demanding it back.

"We don't know 100% what Mr. Cooks motivation was," said
Susan Fani a spokesperson with the local Catholic diocese. "However, if
anything were to qualify as a hate crime, to us this seems like this
might be it."

We just expect the University to take this seriously," she added "To
send a message to not just Mr. Cook but the whole community that this
kind of really complete sacrilege will not be tolerated."

What's even crazier is the guy is getting death threats from concerned catholics. Read more of this at Pharyngula

Give Me Back Jesse Jackson

I fucking hate Barak Obama. Why is he our choice? The only reason he got where he is at, is because he is somewhat black. The press ate up the novel idea that a black man running for president is not some polarizing idealist like Jesse Jackson. After 200 plus years of old white guy presidents, finally the press core got to stand behind a wishy washy black candidate. Finally there is a black candidate that is as full of shit and bland as the white candidates. Why couldn't we have a candidate (like Jesse Jackson) that stands up for something. That says, "I'm a fucking liberal and if you don't like it, FUCK YOU" After all of Obama's right wing agenda back sliding, I think this guy is more republican than McCain. I don't know if I could even vote for this guy after his vote on the FISA Bill last month. He was already under fire for not even having a voting record, and the one time he does vote, he votes against his core base. I just don't get it. I want a candidate that is for:

Bringing our military home, yesterday.

True health care reform; 100% health care coverage across the board.

Tax reform; Every single citizen pays the same tax rate.

Education reform; Anyone who wants to go to college can, on the government's dollar.

Drug laws reformed; Decriminalize and tax, recreational drugs to actually help addicts

Stopping lobbyist of big business, and special interest groups from having any more influence than the average person.

Relax all of the security laws, the government is inconveniencing it's own citizens more with this home land security bullshit than if we just let a few religious zealots bomb a few planes. (Part of that is a joke, which I shall end on)

What country am I writing about? Iraq, Iran, The U.S., Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt

A nation that is brainwashed from birth to believe the hatred, and lies in a bronze age text.

A nation who believes their holy text is so absolute that they will kill those that deny their text.

A nation that is told by their most holy people to hate women.

A nation that mutilates their children because of what it's holy book says.

A nation who's holy people rape little children.

A nation who justifies bombing another country because their holy text is different.

A nation who's holy people teach their congregations to hate and vilify other cultures.

A nation who's leader insists all other countries should believe the way he believes or suffer.

As you should have guessed, ALL of the above. Our country is no different now than any of these other countries that are ruled by their clerics.

What happens in an Arkansas Cage Stays in an Arkansas Cage

Sacha Cohen is a genius.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Crowds in Arkansas came for the lure of cage fighting and $1 beer, but police say what they got instead was men ripping each others' clothes off and kissing _ a stunt suspected of being orchestrated by Sacha Baron Cohen of "Borat" fame.....Full Story at The Huffington Post

Something Good for Once

Everything I have written so far has either been a rant or a review, so I thought I would rave about something. If you have an odd sense of humor like I do, you will love Mr. Deity I can't quit laughing at this crazy show. It's an online sitcom with god as the main character, facing modern day problems. Check out this clip from season one:

And while you're there check out my favorite juggler in his short video series Penn Says. Penn Jillette is my Pope.

Perfect Send Off for Jesse Helms

If you haven't heard of or read the Rude Pundit before, you're in for quite a treat. His CD The Year of Living Rudely should be required listening in public schools. So if you're not easily offended (or like me, nearly impossible to offend) and are not put off by violence, sex, blasphemy, and homosexuals, read on. You have been forewarned.

Jesse Helms in Heaven (A Fantasia):

Frankly, he was as surprised as anyone that he ended up in heaven. Jesse Helms had been sure that all the Christ-loving in the world wouldn't undo the harm that he knew he had done: his support for El Salvadoran death squad leader Roberto D'Aubuisson, about whom he had said, "All I know is that D'Aubuisson is a free enterprise man and deeply religious;" his support for the apartheid government of South Africa and antipathy to the African National Congress and Nelson Mandela; his support of Augusto Pinochet during and after the revelation of the horrific abuses of the dictator's regime. Yes, any of those actions, let alone his bigotry and hatred, should have meant that when his demented, crippled body finally gave out, his corrupt soul would have plunged immediately into the flames of hell for an eternity.... read the rest at The Rude Pundit

Bush Called Out in the UK

I wish reporters in the US would call this idiot out. He would never had been re-elected if people would have seen how stupid he is. Or it could be that American reporters do some good journalism, but their parent companies squash the pieces before they get on the air or in print. Maybe the government has them secretly fired, or at the current rate we'll be reenacting the Alien and Sedition Acts, or worse killing anyone who speaks out.

As you can see, after Bush makes a fool of himself he changes the issue. How can you disagree with him when he's talking about how great our country is. Typical. god save the queen
